How to sign a real estate contract on your phone

You don't need a printer, a scanner or a laptop to sign a contract. With Revamp Sign, the whole thing happens in your phone's web browser, and there's nothing to install. Here's exactly what to expect, step by step.

Step 1: Open the link from your text or email

The sender chooses whether your link arrives by text, email or both. Before you tap, it's worth a quick look to make sure it's genuine: real links open on revamp365.ai or revampsign.com. (Not sure? Use our verification checklist.)

Tapping the link opens the document right in your browser, with nothing to download or sign up for.

Step 2: Review the consent screen

Before your first field, you'll see a short disclosure about doing business electronically. It explains things like how to get a paper copy and how to withdraw your consent. U.S. law requires this kind of notice before certain consumer documents can be delivered electronically, and your acceptance is recorded as part of the document's audit trail.

Step 3: Read the document

The pages fit your screen, and you can zoom in to read the fine print. Take your time. Read the whole thing, not just the parts with fields. If something doesn't match what you agreed, stop and talk to the sender before going any further.

Step 4: Fill in your fields

The signing page guides you through the fields meant for you, in the order they appear in the document: things like your printed name, a date, initials or a checkbox. You can only fill in your own fields. You can't change the document's wording.

Step 5: Type or draw your signature

On a phone, the signature box opens ready for you to draw with your finger. Prefer not to? Switch to typing your name and pick a signature style. Either way, the signature is placed wherever the document asks for it.

Step 6: Finish, and get your copy

Once you've completed everything, finish signing. If other people still need to sign, the document waits for them, and some documents are signed in a set order. When the last person signs, everyone who has an email address on the document is sent the completed PDF, and you can also download it from the signing page.

Changed your mind?

You don't have to sign. You can decline from the signing page and add a reason if you want to. Declining stops the document for everyone, and the sender can send a corrected version if needed.

Common hiccups

• "This link has expired or is no longer valid." Links expire for your protection, and stop working if the sender voids the document. Ask the sender for a new one.
• "It's not your turn yet." The document is being signed in order. You'll be notified when the people before you have finished.
• The page looks tiny. Pinch to zoom, or turn your phone sideways for a wider view.
